- Secured a $2.2 million donation to create the climate science major, enhancing the department's academic offerings and attracting national attention.

- Accelerated the breeding and production of corn varieties to address challenges of feeding a growing global population with affordable, high-quality food.
- Discovered germplasm with a higher rate of spontaneous haploid genome doubling. This increases the efficiency of plant breeding programs and could lead to better crop varieties that are more environmentally friendly.

- Led an Iowa team of extension educators to develop, over a decade, user-friendly, online early childhood education courses. In 2023, 141,630 training certificates were issued to early childhood educators.
- Trained 15 Iowa extension educators as assessors for the Midwest Child Care Research Consortium, leading to sustainable funding of approximately $950,000 annually.

- Coordinates all of Extension's disparate reporting processes, provides program evaluation expertise.
- Helped found Extension's Mentorship Academy which, in eight years, has trained more than 180 mentors throughout extension to assist new staff during their first years.

Professor, veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine
- Leads the molecular diagnostic testing unit at the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL), overseeing a team of about 30 staff that was responsible for nearly two-thirds of the VDL's $30 million in service revenues (2023). The unit achieved an estimated 300% growth in cases since 2009.
- Developed and improved molecular diagnostic capabilities, such as PCR and whole genome sequencing, for viral diseases of pigs and poultry.
- Played a key role in establishing the VDL's public health testing services in response to COVID-19, significantly increasing testing capacity and impacting public health in Iowa.
- Conceptualized two interactive web-based tools, FLUture and PRRSView, used by veterinarians and producers to make informed decisions on intervention strategies for managing those two pig diseases (Influenza A and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome).

- Led the overhaul of the SpendSmart.EatSmart. website to make it audience-centered, interactive, user-friendly and informative.
- Created the Growing Together Iowa initiative, which has attracted more than 1,700 volunteers and donated about two million servings of fresh produce to Iowa's emergency food system since 2016.
- Expanded the Growing Together Iowa program into a multistate collaborative of nine states to reach about 375,000 individuals through nearly 880 food pantries. It received the 2023 Team Excellence in Extension Award for the North Central region.
- Increased ISU Extension and Outreach's federal EFNEP/SNAP-Ed funding (U.S. Department of Agriculture) by 58% over nine years, using the additional funds to develop and implement six nutrition initiatives for specific audiences.
- Organized tailored professional development sessions for her staff who work with historically underserved racial and ethnic communities.

- Developed educational content on ventilation for swine and poultry producers. Conducted 37 ventilation workshops in 2021, impacting the production of 18 million finishing pigs and 680,000 sows.
- Established a sustained research program with industry grants to address important issues in commercial swine and poultry production.

- Collaborated with colleagues at ISU's Electric Power Research Institute on a community resilience toolkit, practical planning on topics such as renewable energy generation and energy storage.
- Developed partnerships within Iowa State and across the Midwest, fostering grants for Extension and Outreach, the university and Iowa communities to make informed energy decisions.
- Initiated involvement of Extension's Community and Economic Development team in a pilot program with Michigan State University focused on community-centered solar design.
